What Are The Reasons for Failure of Wear Plates?

图片
The three major failure modes of   wear plate   materials are: wear, fracture, and corrosion. And the failure mode of wear-resistant castings is wear, fracture, deformation and other major failure modes. 1. Wear loss effect Wear loss is the main way of failure of all metal surfaces such as  wear plates , especially in the strong abrasive wear, wear-resistant steel is gradually worn and eventually fails. The hardness of wear-resistant steel is an important factor affecting its wear. Generally speaking, the hardness of wear-resistant parts is more than 1 times higher than the hardness of the material to obtain better wear resistance, which is the hardness of the working surface of the wear-resistant parts after wear and not the initial hardness before wear. But not the higher the hardness the better, because the higher the hardness the more brittle the wear parts are and the easier to fracture. 2. Fracture failure The fracture of the wear plate is often the result of a large impact durin

How Widespread Are the Applications of Aluminium?

图片
As   aluminium   is abundant in the world, it also has more excellent properties, such as small density, strong thermal conductivity, ductility and low temperature resistance, etc. This also determines that aluminium is widely used in industry and life, what are the applications of aluminium that you know?   Architectural aluminium profiles The main aluminium profiles for construction are aluminium profiles for doors and windows and aluminium profiles for curtain walls.   Aluminium radiator profiles It is mainly used for the heat dissipation of various electric and electronic equipment, LED lighting heat dissipation and computer digital products heat dissipation.   Industrial aluminium profiles General industrial aluminium profiles are mainly used in industrial manufacturing, such as automated machinery and equipment, shell skeleton, as well as custom moulding by companies according to their own machinery and equipment requirements, such as assembly lines. Conveyors, elevators, dispens

Properties and Usages of Spring Flat Steel

图片
Spring steel,   commonly referred to as annealed spring steel, is a so-called "universal" steel. Because of the wide range of uses and applications for this metal, Mead Metals offers a wide variety of spring steel products. Properties of Spring Steels Spring steel is known for its high yield strength, elasticity and flexibility. It has unique forming, shaping and post-treatment capabilities. These physical properties make spring steel a versatile steel.  Three types of annealed spring steels are available, which are distinguished by their carbon content. AISI 1050 has the lowest carbon content, making it easy to form. It can also be heat treated to increase hardness. AISI 1074 and 1075 have a medium carbon content spheroidized to increase their formability and can be heat treated. AISI 1095 has the highest carbon content of any spring steel we carry. It can be heat treated and has the highest elasticity and fatigue values.  Common spring steel products As a general purpose st

Advantages and Applications of Fiberglass filter for steel

图片
Fiberglass filter media   is a popular choice for steel production as it provides several advantages and is ideal for various applications in this industry. Some of the key benefits and applications of fiberglass filters in steel production are: Advantages: Durability: Fiberglass filter media is highly resistant to abrasion, corrosion, and high temperatures, making it ideal for use in harsh steel production environments. Efficiency: Fiberglass filters have a high dust holding capacity and a low pressure drop, making them highly efficient in capturing small particulates. Low Maintenance: Unlike other filter media, fiberglass filters require minimal maintenance, making them cost-effective in the long run. Reusability: Fiberglass filters can be cleaned and reused multiple times, reducing the cost of  filter  replacements and waste. Applications: Blast Furnace Gas Cleaning: Fiberglass filters are used to clean blast furnace gas, which is a byproduct of steel production. They effectively re

Spodumene As a Powerful Flux In Ceramics

图片
The name 'Spodumene' is from the Greek spodos, meaning burnt to ash.   Spodumene   is a silicate mineral often referred to as lithium feldspar. Its mineral form is characterized by hard needle-like grains of brilliant white color. It is used in ceramics as a source of lithia.     Lithia is a very powerful flux, especially when used in conjunction with potash and soda feldspars. As one of only a few natural lithium source materials, spodumene is a valuable component in glass and ceramic/enamel glazes (Li2O reduces thermal expansion, melting temperature and viscosity of the glaze melt).   Spodumene is only slightly soluble (in contrast to lithium carbonate). Because spodumene is a natural combination of silica, alumina and lithia it melts better than a chemically equivalent mixture of lithium carbonate, kaolin and silica. Since almost all raw glazes contain kaolin and silica it is normally fairly easy to juggle recipe ingredients in a ceramic chemistry calculation program to intr

Characteristics of Aluminothermic Welding of Rails

图片
What is aluminothermic welding? In the aluminothermic welding process, molten steel is poured into a mould surrounding the gap between the rail ends to be joined. The rail ends are connected by the liquid metal. The principle of aluminothermic welding is based on an exothermic chemical reaction of aluminium powder and iron oxide, producing sufficient heat to cause melting. Before melting can start, the ends of the rails are cut to create a specified gap and the rails are aligned. Then a refractory mould is fastened around the gap by means of steel mould shoes. Leaks in the moulds are prevented by special luting material. After pre-heating both rail ends the exothermic reaction of the aluminium powder and iron oxide is started in a re-usable or a 'one-shot' crucible and the liquid metal flows into the mould. The metal fills the mould and the slag is discharged into slag bowls. After a cooling period the excess metal at the head of the rail is removed and grinding of the rail c

4 Reasons Why You Should Use Stainless Steel Railings

图片
Today more than ever, there are numerous material options for commercial railings, but not all of them have the same level of uses.   Stainless steel railings   offer competitive benefits other materials can't match. While other materials can be suitable for specific locations, stainless steel is one of the most versatile and durable materials to use in any space. They don't easily succumb to corrosion, require little maintenance, and can be cut and welded into various designs. Plus, stainless steel's sleek design pairs well with other materials—creating a unique aesthetic.   If you're in the market for commercial railing systems, here are five reasons why you should consider stainless steel.   1) Strength   Out of all railing materials available to architects, stainless steel is the strongest and most durable. To prove this, let's take a look at its tensile strength compared to aluminum. Tensile strength is measured as force per unit area, and in the International

How to Prevent And Respond to Deterioration of Welding Wire?

图片
How to prevent it The most common ways to prevent it are to learn proper storing techniques, as well as use deoxidizing agents and shielding gases. ㆍDeoxidizers Deoxidizing agents vary. Silicone, manganese, and aluminum, and occasionally, titanium and zirconium, are the most common. Essentially, deoxidizers defuse the oxygen as the metal cools. It reduces the chances of rust without compromising welding performance or arc quality. Although manganese provides deoxidizing capabilities and increases the strength of the overall weld, it causes some health concerns due to the fumes it produces. Silicone works well to provide a smooth and flat weld product and aluminum works well as an added deoxidizer since too much aluminum compromises the stability of the weld. The more aluminum in the filler metal, the more brittle the weld is. ㆍShielding Gases Shielding gases minimize exposure to the atmosphere. However, depending on the welding process needed, a shielding gas may or not may be required

What Is The Best Vinyl Coated Wire Mesh and Fence?

图片
Be Wary of Weld Points   You want to put up a  wire mesh fence . Which one should you choose? There are so many different types of fencing materials available. The fence's function, the task you want it to perform, will be a large determining factor in the selection process. Factors that will impact the functioning of your fence:     ㆍWire gauge ㆍMesh opening size ㆍHeight   With few exceptions, wire fences have either a galvanized or a vinyl-coated finish. Usually, the vinyl is applied to the previously galvanized wire. The important question is whether the  wire mesh under the vinyl coating  is galvanized before it's welded, or if the mesh is galvanized after it is welded. Why is this important?   When galvanized wire is welded into a mesh, the protective zinc is burned off at the weld points where the wires intersect. This leaves the wires unprotected, exposed to both the air and any corrosive elements that may come in contact with them. Moisture tends to concentrate in the
